Both of these meanings can be applied to the fascinating stones that are carved with humps on them. They are also called Apu Stones because the humps carved in them represent mountains. Chumpi Stones are energetic companions that can activate, animate, and move energy within different grids of time, dimensions, and portals. In this way, they are living beings. The Q'ero and other indigenous people of the Andes are known for the beauty of their traditional textiles and the power of their carved items. Images on both the textiles and their carvings represent messages received from their ancestors and the invisible energetic universe.
